Biography
Ross M.
Curry was born in 1929, the fifth of 7
generations of his family to live in Sauk County,
Wisconsin.
After graduating
from local schools he attended what is now Madison Area
Technical College in Madison in 1948 and 1949. He
worked two years on Mauston newspapers before
spending the next 40 years working for the
Wisconsin Dells Events newspaper, the longest
anyone has ever done so.
In 1963
he married the former Sylvia Phillipson of
Whitehall, Wisconsin. (Read Ross' 40th
Anniversary Article). Sylvia is a
graduate of North Central Bible College and La
Crosse State Teachers College and is a retired
school teacher. They have a son Ross, Jr. of
Wisconsin Dells, a daughter Laureen Hunter of
Black Creek, WI, and 3 grandsons, Alex, Ryan and
Ross Tanner and 2 granddaughters Tiffany and
Crystal Hunter.
Ross and
Sylvia have been active members of Baraboo Assembly of God since marriage
serving in a variety of positions.
Ross has
written 8 books, mostly in retirement. Three are
genealogies and four are local histories. He
wrote Kilbourn Klippings for many years and still
writes mostly historical articles nearly every
week for the Wisconsin Dells Events.
